The Board of
Trustees recommends some changes of the Bylaws & Standing Rules that govern the
Association. The highlights are:
-
Clarifying the Mission
Statement
-
Returning the Number of
Trustees to 15
-
Establishing committees
to accomplish the goals of the Mission Statement.
In January
a committee was convened to review and update the bi-laws. Ellie Andrews, Sally
Baldwin, Mary Cammarano, Isela Bowles, and Senya Lubisich served on this
committee and had a productive meeting. The mission statement of the
organization was clarified, outdated language deleted, and positions clarified.

General Meeting & Program
MAY PROGRAM:
super 8
movies of the SAN GABRIEL Fiesta parades
Speaker:
Dr. Royce Foster
Dr. Foster
has some old super 8 movies of the Fiesta weekend parades that were held in San
Gabriel. He is asking for help in identifying people in the movies. So we are
inviting everyone who remembers the OLD DAYS of the parades in San Gabriel to
come to this meeting and help us in remembering and possibly telling us who the
people in the films are.

1st Annual “Night Out at the
Museum” - Scavenger Hunt
On
Wednesday, April 23rd, the SGHA Museum, together with the San Gabriel Mission,
San Gabriel Mission Playhouse, and the Ramona Museum of California History
opened their doors to provide a unique opportunity for families and communities
to spend an evening exploring the rich history of San Gabriel. Families were
encouraged to start a scavenger hunt at Bicentennial Fountain in Plaza Park that
then lead them to various landmarks in the Mission District. In the course of
the scavenger hunt, the families could visit the three museums and children
could collect a "treasure". Trustees volunteered to stand at intervals in the
district and to help families along the hunt and answer questions. It was quite
exciting to watch children leading their parents on the zigzagging course. A
Certificate of Achievement was given at the SGHA Museum to all school kids who
participated and we happily counted 50 school children who signed the register
at the Museum. Many thanks goes to Trustee Senya Lubisich for all the hard work
she put in making the event the great success that it was and we hope to make
this event an annual occurrence!
